5 things opens (at last) at Slant Culture Fest

We opened the show last night to a nearly-full house (unusual for opening night, right?) of the uniformly Kind & Appreciative. Thanks all!

(that’s from “Stardust,” you know)

Backstage is weird for this show, not just because we’re in a new space (The Nancy Niles Sexton Stage at Walden Theatre) but because, well, we actually wear makeup for this one. Which means more hiding out than our usual “destroy the magic” roaming around and poking-our-heads-out-to-say-howdy-at-the-box-office behavior. Also, we set up and tear down the show in about twenty minutes. Though we’re no strangers to that – we’ve been Louisville theatre’s bar band for most of our existence.

We’ll do this again tonight (Sunday, Nov. 11 – Kurt Vonnegut’s birthday, if you’re keeping track) at 9:30 pm, same place, same festival. Check the Slant Culture site for times of the 4 shows Wed.-Sun. of next week and for info on all the tremendous shows from 502, Savage Rose, Walden, and the Louisville Improvisors, plus Justin Dobring, Ricketts & Randy, musicians, afterparties and Idon’tknowwhatall (we miss you, Andy Griffith).

(It should perhaps be mentioned here that the cast album for 5 things, which also includes some bonus fun from last season’s Gladys…of Adventure! (bonus fun meaning an entire episode – for those who remember, it’s just in time for Thanksgiving) is now available for download at Bandcamp. You can even download the “First Hymn” for free. The whole thing is available for our usual $8-and-up sliding scale.)

5 things…the return

Oh, it’s coming back. We assure you. Are you ready? Have you chosen? Are you packed? Have you decided who you’re bringing? So as to have someone thanking you profusely for the rest of the time you know them? Are we overstating things? The answer to the last question is “No.” The rest of the answers are up to you…

(Who Are Known As "The Three")

You will not be sorry.

“TIME FLIES” playing September 6 – 16 at The Bard’s Town

…and boy, are their arms tired.

Le Petomane Theatre Ensemble, one of Louisville’s most prolific playwrights, returns to the Bard’s Town for their ninth season opener, Time Flies, September 6 – 16. Four weary travelers race through time from beginning to end, from the prehistoric muck to the great beyond, with a few layovers along the way. LePetomane Theatre Ensemble proudly presents a comedic exploration of the Annals of Time(tm) through song, dance and bare-knuckle boxing.

Come see the troupe named Best Theater Troupe in the 2010 and 2011 LEO Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards, that The Courier-Journal calls “simultaneously…hysterical, physical and thought provoking.”

* a word or two about the sliding scale: one pays what one a) thinks fair and b) can afford; we make a reasonable amount either way. The low end is no higher than the price of a movie ticket; the high end is not such an issue – as a non-profit we will gleefully accept any amount above $20 one cares to give, and will cheerfully provide a receipt of said donation for tax purposes.

The tiny giant rises from its nap…

Morning, all,

That time of year has returned, that time in which
a) you start to wonder “What’s happening with Le Petomane’s new season, which will start the week after Labor Day 2012?” and
b) you notice that the LEO Weekly Readers’ Choice awards are coming up again and the ballot is online at http://leoweekly.com/readers-choice/.

For the last two years, Le Petomane has been named Best Theater Troupe by those who vote on such things, and has made decent showings in some of the other categories we’re eligible for (this year they’re:
Best Performing Arts Group,
Best Theater Production – 5 Things, A Derby Carol, Once in a Blue Moon, or A Very Special Holiday Special
and the aforementioned
Best Theater Troupe).

We have appreciated your kindness on both of those occasions, and would as always be thrilled to appreciate it again.

Our 2012-13 season announcement is coming soon – four more shows, created by us, beginning in September. See you soon!

WFPK Live Lunch for Motherlodge

More information can be found at http://www.wfpk.org/live-lunch/, but for now let’s just say that tomorrow (Friday, March 30) at noon, Le Petomane can be heard on WFPK’s Live Lunch as part of a Motherlodge Festival episode – perhaps we’ll be previewing a couple of songs from A Derby Carol, maybe? Who can say.

But listen – and while you’re listening: make a donation during the WFPK fund drive kickoff. Try to imagine your life without WFPK. (And tell them we sent ya’!)

A Derby Carol leaves the gate…

We’re up. We’re running. We’re putting together something special just for you.

One of Louisville’s most prolific playwrights, Le Petomane Theatre Ensemble, returns to the Bard’s Town with A Derby Carol, a depraved comic meditation on Louisville’s REAL holiday season. Locals: come prepared to exorcise your Derby demons; Tourists: come prepared to laugh in amazement at what really goes on around here, as Le Petomane takes on the sacred and the profane with a satirical, gonzo twist on the hubbub surrounding the fastest two minutes in sports.

Come see the troupe that The Courier-Journal calls “simultaneously…hysterical, physical and thought provoking” and was named Best Theater Troupe in the 2010 and 2011 LEO Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards.

Le Petomane Theatre Ensemble Show Will Go On at The Rud Starting Feb 10

The Trickster Coyote decided to be kind to us, and clear up the mess she wreaked on Oak Street by tomorrow morning.

As such, Le Petomane Theatre Ensemble will proudly present Once in a Blue Moon at the beloved Rudyard Kipling starting tomorrow night, Friday February 10. The only performance that will have to be canceled is that for tonight, Thursday February 9.

If you have a reservation for Thursday February 9, please contact Us@LePetomane.org to transfer your reservation to another evening.

Once in a Blue Moon – Venue Change Due to MSD Work on Oak Street

The combined Unstoppable Forces of Tuesday’s full moon and the Metropolitan Sewer District have thrown us a challenge we heartily accept. Due to unforeseen circumstances that will make safe parking and restroom access problematic, it will be necessary for us to change the venue and dates for performances of Once in a Blue Moon.

We are looking at options and will share more details about performances as soon as humanly possible. You can also reach us at Us@LePetomane.org or input your own sewer jokes on Facebook.

We will post details here and on the Facebook event.

You’ve got a Golden Ticket!

And we would NEVER build up a little boy's hopes and then smash all his dreams to pieces. And then be all passive-aggressive and confuse him with anger followed by support. That's not right.

Remember how you are always telling people they should go see a Le Petomane show? Get rewarded for it this time.
Bring one (1) or more (more) people who have never seen Le Petomane to a Once in a Blue Moon performance February 9 – 13 at The Rudyard Kipling, and receive a Golden Ticket voucher for 1 free ticket to A Derby Carol, redeemable for performances April 19 – 23 at The Bard’s Town.

One (1) Golden Ticket offer per person. You and your newbie friend must register at the door for a Once in a Blue Moon performance between February 9 and 13. After ticket purchase you will receive 1 Golden Ticket to be presented for 1 free admittance to a performance of A Derby Carol between April 19 and 23. Not valid on previously purchased items.
